The amazing Ken McEwen completed his cycle trip from Gibraltar to Glasgow in late May and was welcomed back by a mixture of Fusion / Lenzie Rugby Club members and some friends and family.  Here’s some words from the mile machine himself:

After a couple of days of rest and reflection, it’s good to know that #Cyclingbetweenarockandahardplace for #cancerresearchuk has been achieved. This last month has seen a few race wins and excellent performances for the Fusion roving band of triathletes.

First we had Ali who came overall first female at the IM70.3 in Majorca – having competed the same race and done really well last year it seem like Ali went back with a clear goal in mind !  Not bad for the most popular IM70.3 in the world.  Here’s Ali crossing the finish line and we and we look forward to the race report !!

Also on the hunt was one Jo Patterson who was racing down at Southport Triathlon.  Jo came 3rd overall (male and female) around 2 mins ahead of the 2nd placed female in only her 4th triathlon.  ‘Bo’ the tri bike is certainly living up to expectations.

We also had new member Chris Grazia Calvert racing his first standard distance in Northumberland bumping into a few other Fusioners – they all ended up smiling at the end somehow

Juniors were firing both barrels too this month with Isla Britton heading off to France to compete by invite in the French GP.  Isla did amazing in her first sprint distance and you can read all about it in her race report on the site here.

Outlaw 1/2 had some Fusioners onboard too with Kate Rowley doing an amazing job and seemingly managed to smile ALL THE WAY ROUND which is possibly harder than completing the distance itself.  You can read all about it in Kate’s race report here

This month Fusion completed a parkrun takeover of the Victoria parkrun.  Not only did we manage to fill out the entire volunteers roster but we also had a multitude of people from the club along running the event itself, mostly highlighted in their club 10th Anniversary t-shirts !!  On top of this we had a baking stand to replenish the calorific outlay and one Kerry Sloan pulled together some triathlon related games for people to tri at the finish line.

Our wonderful club turns 10 years old this year.  As part of those celebrations we are holding a birthday party, after all what 10 year old doesn’t want a party?!

As part of these celebrations we will be inviting our sponsors and affiliates along for you to meet and see the people behind the companies who support us, there will be fun and games, music, food, and a very special piece of inflatable fun for all ages that’s sure to get the competitive ones going for it.  Each ticket admits you as a member and an extra non-member along, lets show those who haven’t found us yet what a great club we have here.

We can’t wait to celebrate with you all.  See you at Hillhead Sports Club on Hughenden Road at 12:30 for a 13:00 start on Saturday 22nd June
