A place to learn
Fusion senior training
Fusion training is delivered by highly experienced coaches who devise an annual plan that focuses on improving athlete performance and abilities by addressing key factors such as functional and technical ability, base aerobic ability, strength and strength endurance, race speed work and skills.
Our Annual Plan works progressively through the year building towards race season. The plan is designed around training phases each with specific training goals and adaptations and lasting between four and eight weeks
This programme of periodised training is the reason why so many members make so much progress in the year and have helped our club grow so successfully.
The programme is delivered for all abilities and easily tailored for different goals and race dates. If you have an upcoming goal or target race speak to the coaches at one of the training sessions who will be happy to give you specific instructions for the session.
Training runs in a four week repeating cycle. Each new cycle the training focus will shift to follow training phase laid out in the annual plan.
- Week one introduces a new target or focus
- Week two builds on this by adding a some volume and / or intensity
- Week three (big week) takes the volume and / or intensity even higher
- Week four (recovery week) will see a significant reduction in intensity and / or volume. It’s the easiest week of the cycle, allowing the body to rest and adapt before moving on to the next cycle
As we continue to rebuild post COVID we are keen to encourage member participation in triathlon relays to ensure we keep things fun for all.
Social activities will also be incorporated building the ethos of fusion as an all inclusive club that has fun hand in hand with training and racing. As part of this we will run novice open water sessions this year and have activities planned for summer next year to get more people riding their bikes. We will also be selecting a number of events as ‘club’ races to ensure there is always a friendly Fusion face to race with.

Fusion junior training
Our junior section is the most successful in Scotland. The importance of juniors to the sport in Scotland is unquestionable and we currently offer one of the best junior set ups in the country. Plus it’s also fun, friendly and fast, Fusion’s Junior sessions will introduce kids to triathlon and develop comprehensive skills and athletic ability.
Training takes place at Bellahouston every Sunday. Sessions run from 8am to 11am and includes an hour in the pool followed by 1 hour 45 of mixed biking and running. All biking and running takes place around the park paths and velodrome to ensure the safety of the athletes. There is also a further training session on a Wednesday evening from 4:45pm to 7pm at Bellahouston that requires to be pre-booked in advance.
If you are a prospective new member of the club, then we promise you high-quality coaching at all times. In practice, this is only possible with a broadly similar range of abilities and commitment among our athletes. So to allow us to keep our promise and to make sure you are happy in the club, we would like to meet you first before promoting you to full club membership
By completing the entry form, you book a place at the next trial for new members. We would ask that you make this trial session your first session with the club. If that sounds scary, don’t worry, because we’ll make it fun — like all our training sessions! Also it is no problem if you are new to triathlon: We only ask that you are able to swim four lengths of front crawl with your face in the water and that you have a helmet and bike in good working order. With the approval of our lead coaches, you then become a full club member for the year and can continue to attend training sessions. You only actually pay your membership fee when you become a full member.
