Welcome to Fusion Triathlon’s November newsletter !!  We have some fabulous news about our juniors and the tenth year in a row award they’ve taken for just being amazing.  We have the last dribble of this years race reports (I think … anymore out there?!) alongside some further club video content produced to show off what you all do day in and out that is so amazing.

Somewhat importantly there’s information regarding last and first training sessions around the Christmas break this year and some details about the upcoming Fusion awards ceremony !

This month sees some wonderful news – Fusion juniors have won the Triathlon Scotland’s ranking Series for a large club for the 10th year in a row !!!!!

The Ranking Series recognises and rewards consistent participation in Triathlon Scotland events.  Members gain points while participating and these points can eventually lead to an overall and / or age group prize.  For further information the events in general see here – if you’re just interested in the number’s here’s all the results.  And finally here’s a list of all the actual winners – check out those fusionistas !!

We are REALLY proud of all our juniors, whether you’re busting a lung at training having fun or in it for the racing and prizes, we think you and your parents are just fantastic !!

Speaking of our junior destroyers here’s the dedication on show – minus 6 degrees, thick fog and a hard frost but still a pack of 20 of them out there doing their thing.

Fusion had our yearly AGM on Sunday 1st December – lots of discussion was had on great things that have happened with Fusion in the last year and things we need to focus on in the coming years – see the below message from Fusion Secretary Susan Lynch on the day.

Dear members,

After our AGM on Sunday our new committee have now been elected and are ready to fulfill roles to assist the club to move forward. We had some of our committee stand down and some new willing(?) volunteers.

Donna McHugh stepped down as chair and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank her for the drive and passion she employed in developing the club.

Lynsay Falconer also stood down after undertaking many roles within the club over many, if not all of the years the club has been in existence.  Many thanks to Lynsay for the time and commitment as well as quizzes and random photo comps you have given over the years.

Iain Kirkwood joined the committee two years ago to fulfil the role of sponsor liaison a role he has successfully managed in his time leaving us with a clear sponsorship structure, so thank you Iain.

Joanne Byrne and Dave Britton volunteered and were voted on as ordinary members, we thank you for stepping forward and helping the club, we’ll be sure to make good use of your talents!

Which left the vacant position of club chair, I was voted in as chair and am very much looking forward to guiding the club as we move towards the next 10 years.

A bit about me; I’ve been a club member for 10 years, joining as a complete novice I completed a try- tri and loved it, I had caught the triathlon bug.  Before long I was encased in rubber and paddling about Loch Lomond, race distances got longer and I completed a full distance race in 2014.  Fusion is a great club we talk about the Fusion Family and it can be just like that.  Club members have achieved great things over the years but we’re not all about winning.  Our constitution sites our objective

‘to actively encourage members to achieve their personal potential in a safe and caring environment where equality and consistency are demonstrated’, it’s important we continue with that as our focus as we move forward.  We want to bring out the best in people, however that may look to them just getting in the water to swim, getting on a bike or winning medals, achievements are individual.

You will have received an email looking for comment on what shape the club should have in the future I would encourage you to take some time to give us your thoughts. This is your club and we want it to meet your needs.

Formal minutes from the AGM will be available in due course, in the meantime I’ll return to my holidaying.

With the season ending we bring you probably the last race report of the year ….!?  It’s a corker – have a read if you haven’t already – Julie does an amazing job putting you right in the middle of the race.

Alongside the race report content we’re continuing to work on a number of Fusion videos that hopefully bring to life what it’s like training with this wonderful club.  We are always interested in new and interesting ideas so if you want to help out editing or taking footage just get in touch on info@fusiontriathlonclub.co.uk or if you have some video content of your own we’re happy to get it onto our channel in our members playlist

Some of you might be aware that it’s Christmas soon … although this is usually a good thing it also means our training schedule is impacted by all the turkey, presents and sprouts.

The last training session prior to the Christmas break is the Monday the 23th December (swim session) and the first session back is Monday 6th January (swim).

The committee wishes you all a wonderful break and we look forward to seeing you all back after Christmas ready for a fabulous Jan of training.

A note for your dairies – an extremely important note for your diaries !! …. is ………. Sat 18th of Jan !!

This is the date we’ve penciled in for the club awards night.  This year we’ve decided that we shall have a single night for both Juniors and Seniors (lets be honest – just so the juniors can demonstrate how much faster they are than the Seniors)

Our social team of chocolate munching triathlete elves are currently hard at work eating all the chocolate and doing the boring stuff that creates amazing night for all those involved – watch this space for more details.
