Dear members,
Apologies for the short notice, the club was only offered this by Glasgow Life late this morning. The committee have done their very best to get this notice out as soon as we could. Thank you for your understanding.
As you may be aware Glasgow is hosting some of the events at the upcoming European Games. We even have some club members racing GB at the Age group European Triathlon Championships!! Scotsoun Leisure centre will be housing the Synchronised Swimming events and as such are closing their facilities to all other services meaning our swim sessions held there will be relocated from 23rd July-12 August (inclusive)
Ken McEwan has been working extremely hard to keep the club pool time as close to what we have during the closure of Scotstoun for the European games, despite being on holiday so huge thanks to Ken for that. Glasgow Life, have offered us the following slots below, this is quite short on what we currently have but it was very clear that we were not going to be offered anything more than this.
Monday 20:45 – 21:30
Tuesday 20:30 – 21:30
Thursday 20:30 – 21:30
All swims will be at Bellahouston and only a maximum of 2 lanes
The eagle eyed amongst us will have noted that we have lost 45 minutes from the Monday session and the Tuesday AM session in it’s entirety. That leaves us with the above sessions PLUS the Allander sessions as normal. This will clearly mean some compromise to allow all abilities to swim, therefore the club will be offering the following coached swim sessions during this period:
Monday PM Bellahouston – Lanes 3 & 4
Tuesday PM Bellahouston – Lanes 3 & 4
Tuesday PM Allander – Tech improvers (current attendees) + Lanes 1 & 2
Thursday PM Bellahouston – Lanes 2 & 3
Sunday PM Allander – Tech improvers (current attendees) + Lanes 1 & 2
We will run a Sign-Up genius for these sessions.
Those who wish to swim at a session that is NOT designated for their lane can feel free to come along and pick up the lane session plan from the coach free of charge – you will however need to pay the leisure centre to swim in the public lanes.
The Thursday run session that would usually depart from Scotstoun will now depart from the front doors of Bellahouston at 18:45
The thought processes behind this decision are as follows:
Allander tech session numbers have been low as we know, so we can add Scotstoun abilities 1 and 2 without issue of disparate abilities in lanes
Makes sense to keep Tuesday Bellahouston as lanes 3 & 4 as this is the majority of the attendees on a Tuesday Scotstoun PM swim
Lanes 2 & 3 are the busier ones at all other Scotstoun sessions so have been given fractionally more pool time across the week
I hope this does not cause too much inconvenience to you all and we look forward to seeing you at our temporary homes as from Monday (23rd July).
Thanks all
