With nights drawing and autumn appearing it’s the perfect time to settle down in a comfy chair with a coffee and consider winter training plans & read our August newsletter !  This month we have details on the new training block, some Fusion member adventures, a social to get involved in and a request to help out at a Fusion event among some other gems !

We had a bunch of people up at the Aberfeldy triathlon weekend competing in the Saturday sprint, the run middle distance and middle distance relay.

Started off well on the Saturday with great performances from Richard and Jo to take the top steps in the sprint races !!  Well done peeps.  Sunday just got better with a few people from the club competing and doing amazing in both the middle distance and the middle distance relay.

  • Well done to Richard Thurlow-Begg and Jo Patterson for racing 2 days in a row!! Hardcore !!
  • Brilliant efforts also from Alex Rogers, Hans Forhaug, Chris Calvert, Kate Rowley, John Dargie, Stewart Barnett and last but not least our Scottish middle distance champion Ali Rainey!   Richard also stepped up on the podium for the second day in a row with silver in the team relay alongside Han

With the Balfron Aquathlon coming up soon there’s an ask from the club to help volunteer at this event – please see below and get involved !!

This month has seen a trio of interesting posts on the website

Interested in writing a block for the site, or a race report?  Then let us know at info@fusiontriathlonclub.co.uk !

A few other shout outs for people doing amazing things this month !!

  • Hans Forhaug banging out a 52:44 25 mile TT.
  • Kate Rowley completes the marathon at portishead running festival – 5k, half marathon, 10k and 6.1k races over 2 days
  • Louisa Oram was 11th Female at Aviemore off road triathlon.
  • Graeme Neagle was 4th in Aviemore in the championship race.
  • Former member Sally Nisbett swimming the length of Loch Lomond (22 miles) at just 16 yrs old raising £3.5k fit charity.
  • Colin Forbes returned to racing after injury at Haddington sprint with a solid effort.

The Georgetown TT was a favorite for many club members – in particular the ladies section was a bit of a take over the Fusion taking 3 out of the top 4 slots in terms of overall results for the year.

The ladies winner this year was Jo Patterson from Fusion. Just as an indication of how good Jo was this season. Her time of 1:02:47 (top four TT results) would have been fast enough to win the overall Georgetown Shell award on six out of the nine times the competition has been held. Outstanding!
